Since the inception of Hooked in 2012, the Back to School Monster Truck Bash at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway has been a yearly staple on the team’s schedule and 2018 would be no different. The technical racing course is notorious in the industry and one of the most grueling circuits all year, but Bryan Wright and the Hooked team were up for the task. For the first time ever Hooked would make the trip to the Virginia Motorsports Park in Dinwiddie, Virginia. It would be the only Monster Truck Throwdown stop for the team in 2018 and with it being a near hometown event for Bryan Wright he was amped up and ready to thrill the fans. After a gut wrenching weekend at Monsters on the Beach in 2017 Bryan Wright and the Hooked team were determined to battle for the championship title in 2018. Last year’s event was plagued with mechanical issues all weekend long that kept the team out of contention. It was a major disappointment with it being a home town show and one of the team’s favorite events. They came into the weekend with their sites set on claiming the 2018 George Carpenter Cup en route to the King of the Beach honors. For the first time ever the Hooked Monster Truck team visited GALOT Motorsports Park for a two show weekend with the Monster Truck Throwdown tour. The top notch facility played host to 8 top level monster trucks on a long but narrow course that put the trucks to the test all weekend. The native Carolinian behind the wheel in Bryan Wright was only a few hours from home and looking to bring home some hardware on the weekend and he would do just that in spectacular fashion. The new season started in Atlanta this past weekend for the Hooked Monster Truck team as they embarked on their nine week journey with the Monster Jam FS1 Championship Series. Round One of the series brought the team to Atlanta, Georgia where nearly 60,000 fans would pack the Georgia Dome to watch the season opener.

Nothing beats home cooking and your backyard, which is what the Hooked Monster Truck team had this past weekend for the 18th Annual Monsters On The Beach. For Steven Sims it would be his fourth year straight year in the event he grew up watching for so many years. After thrilling performances the past few years Sims was hoping to take the King Of The Beach title, but most importantly he was hoping to thrill the hometown fans that had supported his family over the years.
