For the second time in 2018 the Monster Trucks Unlimited crew headed to Glendale, Arizona’s State Farm Stadium for another Monster Jam stadium event to kick off a busy month of October. The last visit saw the El Toro Loco body on the Hooked chassis, but this time it would be Hooked in its true form in action for the event. The Glendale fans came out in droves for the pit party to see the trucks up close and got to meet drivers like Bryan Wright in person before the event got underway. The night got off to a bit of a rough start in racing, as an electrical issue shut off the truck mid-race against Son-uva Digger leading to an early exit from the racing bracket. Wright and the Hooked crew were able to get the back up and running a short time later and in time to compete in the two wheel skills competition. The first move attempt from Wright was for a nose wheelie, but they didn’t get the right pop for it to work. With one more attempt left, Wright found the jammer ramp and was able to get a picture perfect slap wheelie to close out his two wheel skills performance.
With the truck back to one hundred percent, Wright and Hooked were ready to cut loose in freestyle. They wasted no time at all getting to work with a fast paced, big air filled freestyle performance. Wright rode the ragged edge throughout the run with a couple of quick saves and a one wheeled slap wheelie attempt before rounding out their two minute run. The crowd cheered and saluted Wright’s performance as one of the first great freestyle’s of the competition. It would be good enough for an early lead and eventually be a sixth place finish in the freestyle rankings.
It would be yet another great event on the 2018 calendar for the Hooked team in Glendale. From there the team packs up and heads back east for a busy October schedule with Monster Jam. Our next stops include Louisville, Wheeling and Bridgeport. Be sure to come check us out when we’re in your town. Make sure you check out our schedule to see where we’ll be.
