After making two stops in Tampa in 2013, the Hooked Monster Truck team returned for their first visit of 2014 to Raymond James Stadium as they were set to compete against a strong field of Monster Jam’s toughest talent. The weekend before in San Antonio was a good outing for driver Bryan Wright as he returned to action for the first time since the summer of 2013. With the truck in great shape, Wright and the Hooked team were ready for the challenge ahead Saturday night.
The usually warm Tampa was a little chilly Saturday, with temperatures dipping down into the 40’s, but that didn’t stop thousands of Monster Jam fans from coming to see their favorite trucks and drivers in the pit party. Wright and Hooked hung out with the fans all day before the event in the evening. Once the sun set, and the lights came down in the stadium it was time for Monster Jam action.
Round One of racing matched Wright and Hooked against a good friend and familiar face, Scott Hartsock and the Gun Slinger. The always tough Hartsock was able to pull off the round one victory against Wright and Hooked to end their racing efforts early. Wright would come back in freestyle though and fire up the crowd with a great performance early on. Highlights included some big air leaps over the jack rabbit, a great walking wheelie over the racing lane, and Wright even took out a massive camper with Hooked. The crowd applauded Wright’s efforts with a strong run to get the crowd on their feet.
Next up for the Hooked Monster Truck team is the Citrus Bowl in Orlando, Florida next Saturday. Be sure to keep up with the team online by liking the official Hooked Monster Truck Facebook page here.
