The new season started in Atlanta this past weekend for the Hooked Monster Truck team as they embarked on their nine week journey with the Monster Jam FS1 Championship Series. Round One of the series brought the team to Atlanta, Georgia where nearly 60,000 fans would pack the Georgia Dome to watch the season opener.
The new season would see the return of Bryan Wright to the driver’s seat as Steven Sims Jr. is piloting the all new Pirate’s Curse truck for Monster Jam this season. Wright was excited to return to Hooked and looked to live up to the high expectations fans have for Hooked.
The night’s action started off with qualifying where Wright put in a strong pass and delivered a time of 25.694 which was good enough for seventh place and put him into the eight truck racing bracket. Wright drew a tough opponent in round one as he’d face off against Damon Bradshaw and Monster Energy. While he tried his best, a slight bobble would cost Wright and Hooked valuable time handing the win over to Bradshaw.
The night wasn’t over though as they still had freestyle left to go. As one of the earlier trucks to go out Wright put together a good performance to get the crowd going with one of the better freestyle’s in the early part of the competition. Wright didn’t back down from any obstacle and got some nice air over several jumps and put up a score of 30 for his efforts, which was good enough for eight place at the end of the night.
After a strong start in Atlanta, the Hooked team is traveling south for Round Two of the Monster Jam FS1 Series at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Be sure to catch the Atlanta broadcast on FS1 next Sunday January 17 at 3:00pm ET/12:00pm PT.
